Summary: Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital is seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. As an RN on the Med Surg/Tele unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, individualized patient care based on the Watson Model of Care. You will have 12-hour accountability for organizing, planning, coordinating, and implementing patient care. Join us in fulfilling our mission to deliver exceptional healthcare to our community.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the nursing process as a problem-solving model to assess, plan, and meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Demonstrate expertise in providing age and population-specific care, applying current research findings, and making sound clinical decisions.
  • Maintain a therapeutic nurse-patient relationship, respecting patients' rights, and promoting their active participation in their recovery.
  • Communicate effectively utilizing the Situation-Background-Assessment-Recommendation (SBAR) technique.
  • Document patient care accurately and follow unit-specific and hospital documentation policies.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary discharge planning for patients and collaborate with care managers.
  • Review orders, monitor patient condition, and collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and utilize patient classification system.
  • Plan, supervise, and evaluate ancillary nursing personnel, orientees, and registry staff.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment that complies with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality and performance improvement activities.
  • Assist with unit orientation of new employees and set-up of equipment and patient rooms.
  • Provide basic hygiene and activities of daily living (ADLs) to patients.

Qualifications: A. Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
  • Associate's degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent

B. Experience

  • Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience
  • Minimum of 12 months of Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care nursing experience preferred
  • Current California Nursing license
  • Basic EKG competence
  • Certification in Progressive Critical Care Nursing and/or Medical/Surgical Nursing preferred

C. Special Skills/Knowledge

  • Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Dysrhythmia Course certificate preferred
  • Electronic Medical Record experience preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card within 90 days of hire or requirement notification
