Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. As a Clinical Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, individualized patient care based on the Watson Model of Care. You will have 12-hour accountability for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and managing patient care. Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse on the Med Surg/Tele (4th Floor) unit, your responsibilities will include:
- Utilizing the nursing process as a problem-solving model and anticipating and planning to meet patient and family needs.
- Conducting nursing assessments focused on target areas for the patient population and recognizing subtle changes in clinical situations.
- Demonstrating knowledge and skills to provide age and population-specific care, applying current literature/research findings and critical thinking to make sound clinical decisions.
- Developing and maintaining therapeutic nurse/patient relationships, respecting patient's rights and promoting patient satisfaction.
- Communicating effectively using the SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) format in all hand-off situations.
- Documenting patient care including assessment, interdisciplinary plan of care, implementation, evaluation, and utilizing the Watson Model of Care.
- Anticipating variables affecting patient comfort and adjusting physical and psychosocial interventions accordingly.
- Committing to meeting the learning needs of patients and families and utilizing appropriate resources to achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Coordinating interdisciplinary discharge planning and collaborating with care managers.
- Reviewing all orders on patients, communicating changes in patient condition, and collaborating with physicians and team members.
- Participating in the unit-specific Quality and Performance Improvement Plan and completing monitoring forms.
- Assisting with unit orientation of new employees and participating in training programs.
- Providing basic hygiene and activities of daily living (ADLs) to patients.
- Upholding professional appearance and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's in Nursing degree preferred; Associate in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent accepted.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience; 12 months of Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care nursing experience preferred.
- License: Current California Nursing license.
- Skills: Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish); basic computer skills; dysrhythmia course certificate preferred; electronic medical record experience preferred.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card within 90 days of hire.
