Summary
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the position of Clinical Staff Nurse in our Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit. As a member of our dedicated team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in accordance with the Watson Model of Care. Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process as a problem-solving model to anticipate and meet patient and family needs.
- Conduct nursing assessments, evaluate patient condition, and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Provide age and population-specific care, applying current research findings and critical thinking skills.
- Foster therapeutic nurse/patient relationships and ensure patient rights are respected.
- Communicate effectively using the SBAR format in all hand-off situations.
- Accurately document patient care, following hospital policies and procedures.
- Anticipate and address variables affecting patient comfort, utilizing a variety of interventions.
- Promote patient satisfaction through hourly rounding and personalized care.
- Meet the learning needs of patients and families, utilizing appropriate resources.
- Coordinate and participate in interdisciplinary discharge planning.
- Collaborate with physicians and team members regarding patient condition and required orders.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and document outcomes.
- Supervise and evaluate ancillary nursing personnel, ensuring quality care delivery.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment that complies with regulatory standards.
- Contribute to the unit-specific Quality and Performance Improvement Plan.
Requirements
A. Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Associate's degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent.
- Internal candidates who have completed the MLKCH Versant Nurse Residency Program will be considered.
B. Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience.
- Minimum of 12 months of Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care nursing experience preferred.
- Valid California Nursing license.
- Basic EKG competence.
- Certification in Progressive Critical Care Nursing preferred.
- Certification in Medical/Surgical Nursing preferred.
C. Special Skills/Knowledge
- Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish).
- Basic computer skills.
- Dysrhythmia Course certificate preferred.
- Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card within 90 days of hire or requirement notification.
