Responsibilities

  • Assist the Physical Therapist in patient assessment, including testing joint range of motion, muscle strength, and mobility status.
  • Implement therapeutic techniques appropriate to the patient's needs and medical status, such as heat, cold, light, water, sound, electricity, mobilization, and therapeutic exercise.
  • Communicate patient progress to the Physical Therapist.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education regarding treatment, precautions, and equipment use.
  • Complete all documentation, including evaluation, care plan, patient status, progress, visits, discharge summary, and care transition plan.
  • Assist with patient transition planning and coordination of care with other providers and community resources.

Qualifications

  • Education & Training: Associates Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • License/Certification: Current State of CT Physical Therapy Assistant license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Previous experience in acute care or outpatient setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of principles and practices of Physical Therapy
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle stress and exercise independent judgment
