Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in patient assessment, including testing joint range of motion, muscle strength, and mobility status.
- Implement therapeutic techniques appropriate to the patient's needs and medical status, such as heat, cold, light, water, sound, electricity, mobilization, and therapeutic exercise.
- Communicate patient progress to the Physical Therapist.
- Provide patient and caregiver education regarding treatment, precautions, and equipment use.
- Complete all documentation, including evaluation, care plan, patient status, progress, visits, discharge summary, and care transition plan.
- Assist with patient transition planning and coordination of care with other providers and community resources.
Qualifications
- Education & Training: Associates Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
- License/Certification: Current State of CT Physical Therapy Assistant license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous experience in acute care or outpatient setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of principles and practices of Physical Therapy
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle stress and exercise independent judgment
